That’s why residents can now create and share community events directly in the ADDA App. Once published, these events appear in the Events section, making them easier for other residents to discover.

What Challenges Do Residents Face When Organising Community Events?
Many resident-led activities never get the participation they deserve, not because people aren’t interested, but because they simply don’t know about them.
When residents try to organise something on their own, three things typically go wrong:
1. Event announcements get buried
A poster shared in a busy WhatsApp group may get attention for a while, but as new messages come in, it quickly moves up the chat. Residents who check the group later may never see it, even if the activity is something they would have liked to attend.
2. Getting the event published can take extra coordination
Resident-led events may require organisers to coordinate with the Management Committee to get the event published for everyone in the community. With several community responsibilities already being managed, this may not always happen immediately.
3. It’s difficult to know how many people are coming
Planning an event is much easier when you have an idea of how many people are likely to attend. Without a way for residents to RSVP, organisers are often left guessing. Should they arrange seating for 20 people or 50? Do they need extra refreshments or additional materials? Knowing the expected participation makes planning much easier.
And if the society runs on a free, ad-supported app, most residents will not even check the app for event notifications.
What’s New for Community Events in the ADDA App?
Community events in ADDA have always helped keep residents informed about what’s happening in their community.
With this release, residents can now create community events too.
So if Rohan is organising the Ganpati celebration, creating the event is simple:
- Open the Events section in the ADDA App.
- Tap the + icon and add the event details,
- Save & publish the event.
Once the event is live, it appears in the Events section and calendar, making it easy for residents to discover upcoming activities, view the details, and RSVP.
And it’s not just for festive celebrations. Residents can also create events for hobby workshops, yoga sessions, sports activities, book clubs, children’s activities, or any other community gathering they’re organising.
What Are the Benefits of Resident-Created Events?
1. Help More Residents Find Your Event
When an event is created in the ADDA App, it appears in the Events list and calendar instead of getting lost among everyday conversations. This makes it easier for interested residents to discover the event, view all the details in one place, and RSVP directly from the App.
2. Create Events Without Depending on the Management Committee
Residents can create and publish their own events directly, without having to wait for the Association Office or Management Committee to add them on their behalf.
This makes it easier to organise activities such as swimming classes, book club meetings, yoga sessions, hobby workshops, or festive celebrations without repeated follow-ups.
3. Get a Clearer Idea of Expected Participation Through RSVPs
Residents RSVP from the event page; organisers get an early estimate of participation, helping them plan seating, refreshments, activity materials, and other arrangements with greater confidence.
How Do Admins and Moderators Maintain Community Guidelines?
Residents can create and publish their own events, while authorised admins and moderators can continue to review them when needed.
If an event does not follow the community’s rules and guidelines, admins with access to the Amenities and Events module, as well as community moderators, can remove it.
When an event is removed, the admin or moderator must provide a reason, which is shared with the event host.
Once removed:
- The event no longer appears in the Events list or calendar
- The host is informed of the reason
- Confirmed attendees are notified that the event has been cancelled
This gives residents the freedom to organise community activities while helping admins and moderators ensure that events remain aligned with community guidelines.

A few days later, it’s finally time for the Ganpati celebration.
Families begin arriving, children excitedly move between the activity stalls, and neighbours stop to catch up before the celebrations begin. Everything Rohan and his team had spent weeks planning is finally coming together.
For Rohan, that’s the best part. Instead of worrying about whether people knew about the event, he gets to enjoy the celebration with the rest of the community.
